Navy Officials Explore Unmanned Surface Vessels For Operational Relief
The US Navy is exploring the use of unmanned surface vessels (USVs) to alleviate operational and sustainment pressures on its aging fleet. According to Cmdr. Jon Noda, USVs can provide commanders with ‘alternate options’ for servicing mission sets, particularly for tasks that do not require a large, manpower-intensive combatant. This development was discussed at the joint Xponential/MDEX conference in Detroit, as reported by Breaking Defense.
