NATO Eastern Flank Strengthened With Advanced Fighter Jets
Poland has taken delivery of its first F-35A Lightning II fighters, marking a major milestone in the country’s air force modernization efforts. The first three aircraft arrived in Poland on May 22, 2026, after a delivery flight from Lockheed Martin’s production site in Fort Worth, Texas. The F-35As will operate alongside Poland’s F-16 fleet, which is also being upgraded under a separate modernization program. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz welcomed the aircraft as part of a broader modernization effort aimed at replacing legacy combat aircraft and improving Poland’s ability to operate with NATO allies.
