Airport Expansion Ahead Of Summer Peak Season
Hong Kong International Airport has opened its rebuilt Terminal 2, with 15 airlines set to relocate their check-in services to the new building by mid-June. The terminal’s departure facilities are scheduled to commence operations on May 27, 2026, ahead of the summer peak season. The new terminal is expected to handle around eight million passenger journeys in its first year and will add 27 boarding gates, including seven multi-aircraft ramp stands, when the concourse opens in 2027. The expansion is part of the airport’s Three-Runway System program, which was first reported by AeroTime.
