CBO Estimate Based On Outdated Technology And Incorrect Assumptions
The Pentagon’s Golden Dome program has come under scrutiny after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated its cost could reach $1.2 trillion over 20 years. However, Gen. Michael Guetlein, the program’s lead, has pushed back against this estimate, stating that it is based on outdated technology and incorrect assumptions. Guetlein believes the actual cost will be around $185 billion. The CBO’s estimate was based on a notional national missile defense shield, which Guetlein says does not accurately reflect the program’s goals or technological advancements.
