Foam-Based Engine Cleaning Technology Rolls Out Worldwide
GE Aerospace is expanding its 360 Foam Wash jet engine cleaning system across its global maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) network. The foam-based technology, originally developed with Middle East customers, replaces conventional water wash and improves compressor efficiency, reducing fuel burn and extending time on wing. According to GE Aerospace, the process also produces better-quality borescope imagery, allowing for more accurate workscoping and shorter turnaround times. The company has completed over 6,500 washes on fielded engines since trials began in 2017, with multiple airline customers holding technical licenses to perform the procedure themselves. This development was first reported by AeroTime.
