Regional Facility Boosts Sovereign Capability And Industry
Australia has officially opened a new AUD 200 million (US $130 million) facility at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Edinburgh to serve as a regional hub for the maintenance and sustainment of P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. The facility is expected to reduce the country’s reliance on overseas sustainment and strengthen its sovereign capability. The project is part of the government’s priorities under the 2026 National Defence Strategy and the Integrated Investment Program. According to AeroTime, the facility will also support regional partners, including the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), starting in 2028.
