Leadership Transition Amid Production Challenges And Record Orders
Airbus shareholders have approved a leadership transition that will see René Obermann step down as Chair of the Board of Directors later this year, with Amparo Moraleda designated to succeed him. Obermann, who has led the company through a period of significant challenges, expressed confidence in Airbus’s trajectory. The transition comes as the company faces production headwinds, including engine supply constraints, but also reports a record backlog of orders. According to AeroTime, Airbus delivered 793 commercial aircraft in 2025 and has set an annual delivery target of approximately 870 aircraft for 2026.
