Vice Adm Robert Gaucher Takes Charge Of Troubled Programs
The US Navy has appointed Vice Adm. Robert Gaucher as the Pentagon’s first-ever submarine czar, tasked with overseeing production of Virginia and Columbia-class submarines. Gaucher took office on Feb. 23, reporting directly to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg. The new role is designed to address the complexities of submarine construction and inform resource decisions, amid ongoing delays and supply chain challenges.
