India's Largest Airline Seeks New Leadership Amid Regulatory Scrutiny
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced the immediate departure of CEO Pieter Elbers, who will be replaced by interim leader Rahul Bhatia. Elbers joined the airline in 2022 after a 30-year career at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The move comes after IndiGo faced a $2.6 million fine from the Indian regulator for operational disruptions in December 2025. Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, will focus on strengthening the company’s culture, operational excellence, and customer service. The change was reported by AeroTime.
