Indonesia Eyes M-346 Fighter Jets in New Deal with Leonardo

Italian Manufacturer Supports Southeast Asian Nation's Ambition

Indonesia has signed a Letter of Intent with Italian manufacturer Leonardo to acquire M-346 F Block 20 fighter aircraft, supporting the country’s ambition to modernize its aircraft fleet. The agreement covers localization items like support, maintenance, and overhaul, alongside training capabilities. The M-346 is equipped with advanced technology, including a Large Area Display and active electronically scanned radar. This development comes after Boeing ended interest in selling F-15EX fighter jets to Indonesia, and as Indonesia considers acquiring Chinese J-10 fighter aircraft. The deal was announced at the Singapore Airshow, as reported by Breaking Defense.
