Russia Flies First Test of New Engine for Su-57 Fighter

Russia's Sukhoi Su-57 Gets Boost from Advanced Powerplant

Russia’s state-owned defense conglomerate Rostec announced that the Sukhoi Su-57 flew for the first time powered by the new Product 177 engine, developed by the United Engine Corporation. The engine produces up to 16,000 kg-force of thrust and offers reduced fuel consumption and improved durability. The Su-57 is a multirole fighter designed to engage air, ground, and maritime targets. The development is part of an effort to introduce a more powerful and efficient powerplant on future versions of the aircraft. According to Rostec, the company is expanding production capacity to increase deliveries of the Su-57 to Russian forces and to support export efforts.
