Germany Expands Maritime Capabilities with New NH90 Helicopter
The German Navy has taken delivery of its first NH90 Sea Tiger helicopter, replacing the Mk88A Sea Lynx helicopters. The aircraft is being delivered through NHIndustries, a multinational consortium, and deliveries are scheduled to run through 2030. The NH90 is a twin-engine military transport helicopter developed in partnership between France, the UK, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The German Navy operates 18 NH90 Sea Lion helicopters in a naval transport and search-and-rescue role, and the delivery coincides with several European navies expanding or modernizing their NH90 fleets.
