CAeS Debuts ST-5 Stingray, A Hybrid Wing-Body UAV for Marine and Climate Research

Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS) unveiled the ST-5 Stingray, a hybrid wing-body UAV powered by a hydrogen-electric propulsion system, at the Dubai Airshow 2025. The aircraft features a 5.5-meter wingspan and is designed for long-duration missions. CAeS has partnered with the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) to explore using the Stingray for marine and climate-related research. The company’s largest investor, the Abu Dhabi-based Strategic Development Fund, showcased the aircraft at the airshow. This marks the first public appearance of the Stingray, which is part of CAeS’s efforts to develop a new class of UAVs. The partnership with NOC will support collaboration on ocean monitoring under the Europe’s Aria Forecasting Tipping Point program.
